Visit Alpine Slide

Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is one of the best places to enjoy some adrenaline inducing fun in Big Bear. It’s open all year long, but you will love the atmosphere of Alpine Slide during the winter. Try the 500 foot zip line ride Soaring Eagle, or their massive sledding hill which is always blanketed by at least 20 feet of snow and accompanied my a magic carpet so you can keep sledding all day long. There are even lights to keep the fun going well after sunset!

Choose Your Ski Resort

Big Bear features three ski resorts: Bear Mountain Ski Resort, Snow Summit Ski Resort, and Snow Valley Mountain Resort. All three resorts are fully equipped with lifts, ski rentals, lessons, and plenty of food and drinks (including alcohol).

Snow Valley Mountain Resort is located about 30 minutes down the mountain from Big Bear, the first ski resort you see as you drive into town. With similar conditions to those in Big Bear, it is much smaller than the other two resorts and is best for advanced skiers.

Snow Summit Ski Resort features a variety of places to eat in their beautiful lodge, and is known for having some of the most consistent snow on all runs thanks to their snow making capability at every run in the resort. They offer something for everyone, with terrain parks, long ski runs, and a beginners area with a magic carpet.

Bear Mountain Ski Resort is known for its variety of terrain parks suited for every level, and many places to eat at the base of the runs. While it is smaller than Snow Summit, there is still plenty of skiing and snowboarding to enjoy at Bear Mountain.

Visit the Zoo

Sometimes you will get a winter day in Big Bear that offers a warmer afternoon, still with a chill in the air but warm enough to do something outside. If you end up with a day like this, consider heading over to the Big Bear Alpine Zoo. The rehab facility offers a safe haven to injured, orphaned, or imprinted wild animals and is a dynamic place to see and learn about local wildlife.

Shop and Dine at Big Bear Village

Big Bear Village is beautiful any time of year, but it is particularly picturesque and cozy during the winter months. At the village you will find many wonderful places to eat out, like Big Bear Lake Brewery, The Himalayan, and The Boneyard Bar & Grill. It’s also a great place to do some fun window shopping or look for a perfect souvenir to remember you special winter getaway.
