Mohave Wash
This is an easy trail, perfect for taking out a Jeep, SUV, ATV, or dirt bike. Whether you are a beginner or just looking for an easy day off road, Mohave Wash is a great place to go. The trail is a 34 mile loop that should take between 3 to 4 hours. There are some hazardous mines with deep shafts, so make sure to keep children in the vehicle at all times. You can expect a combination of soft sand, rocky areas, and some minor hill climbs. Beat the heat by hitting the trail early, with plenty of time to come home and cool off in the pool at the end of the ride.
Swansea Townsite
Begin the Swansea Townsite trail at the Bill Williams River National Wildlife Refuge, a great place to stop for the day and observe over 275 species of birds. The off road trail at Swansea Townsite is over 55 miles, so plan to be out for at least 5 hours, with more time if you would like to get out and explore. There are designated trails for 4-wheel drive vehicles, ATVs, and dirt bikes, as well as trails for Jeeps and SUVS. At the end of the trail you will reach Swansea Townsite, which was once a booming cooper mining town. This is not a good trail to visit if there is rain in the forecast, as flash flooding is common in the wash bottoms.
Buckskin Mountains
Best for those with off roading experience, this moderately challenging trail is about 5.5 miles in and 5 miles out. Plan to spend 2 to 3 hours here, with a Jeep, ATVs, or dirt bikes. Though this is a short trail, it requires a skillful spotter, and stock vehicles will likely struggle here. If conditions are wet, the trail becomes increasingly challenging to navigate. But, if you are up for a challenge and are not planning to go out alone, this is a fun trail that leads to Nellie E. Saloon and offers plenty of excitement a long the way.
Crossman Peak
This 36 mile trail crosses remote desert areas around the south and east sides of Crossman Peak. You can expect to spend at least 4 hours on the trail, which is best suited for Jeeps, ATVs, and dirt bikes driven by an experienced off roader. There are many easy parts of the trail that make for a fun and relaxing ride, but some particularly challenging portions feature sandy hills or rocky areas that require exact tire placement.
President’s Choice
Looking for a truly challenging ride for advanced drives? President’s Choice is a trail that is just about a mile long, but will likely take at least an hour to complete due to its technical challenges. This is best for modified equipment that can handle tall jagged rocks with little room to maneuver. If you have a group that likes to ride together and can act as spotters for each other, the trail will be an adrenaline rush and a lifelong memory.
